Green Coast Region

The region of Costa Verde, including Angra dos Reis, Mangaratiba, Paraty and Ilha Grande, was awarded by Lonely Planet, the world’s largest travel guide, as one of the 10 best regions in the world to travel.

The destination in Rio de Janeiro was in ninth place, near the region of Bavaria, Germany and Hawaii, in the United States. First place went to Transylvania in Romania. According to the latest study carried out by the Ministry of Tourism, the state of Rio de Janeiro is the capital most visited by foreigners who travel to Brazil for faiths, having received 1.59 million international visitors last year. The city of Rio is also the third most desired city for Brazilians, according to the study.

Below some of the main beaches in the region:

Lopes Mendes Beach – on Ilha Grande, is one of the most beautiful beaches in Angra dos Reis, and one of the most beautiful in the world, according to research. Large and of clear sand, the sea has several shades of blue and green, relatively calm sea, in addition to many shades of trees. The access is made by boat or through an ingrime trail.

Lagoa Azul – Also located in Ilha Grande, the attraction is one of the main and most unforgettable tours of the destination, it is a beautiful natural pool where boats anchor and swimmers can jump in their crystalline waters full of fish. Those who can not swim can also enter the water with the help of buoys.

Praia do Caxadaço – A wild and wild paradise, a small beach only 15 meters long, surrounded by lots of vegetation and crystalline sea. Great option for those who are always in search of hidden havens.

Cataguás Island – Next to the continent, it has white sands, transparent and calm sea, ideal for swimming.

Dentist’s Beach – It is one of the most popular beaches on Gipóia Island, the second largest in Angra dos Reis. The sand is extensive and the calm, crystalline and shallow sea turns point of boats, motorboats and yachts. Drinks and snacks are provided by the many floating bars, which serve directly on the moored vessels.

Praia da Figueiras – It is one of the best beaches of Angra dos Reis located on the mainland. To get there you must go down a steep trail or a grand staircase, but the effort is rewarded with crystal clear and calm waters. Difficult access and lack of structure ensure less movement. Do not forget to bring food and drinks.
